Biology is the science of life. You will study fundamental concepts of life and its different forms, from simple microbes to highly complex animals and plants.
Through lessons carefully planned by experienced faculty, you will learn about genetics, cellular and molecular biology, morphology (form) and physiology (function), development, and ecology.
After four years of study, biology students will graduate with a BSc or a BSc Honours degree from Mount Saint Vincent University. Biology may also be taken as a combined major, concentration or minor.

Mount Saint Vincent University is committed to preparing our international English-as-an-additional-language students for the transition to the Canadian classroom.
Taught by our highly experienced instructors, and designed in consultation with MSVU faculty, the English for Academic Purposes (EAP) programs combine English language learning with the foundational skills necessary for academic success.
Students who complete the EAP program will have direct access to MSVU undergraduate or graduate programs with no official test score.

International applicants are expected to have completed a preparatory program that leads to university entrance in their own country.
High School Students
In general, secondary school applicants have an average of 70% (5 best scoring academic subjects considered) during their final year of schooling.
Applicants looking to transfer from another post-secondary institution must demonstrate an overall GPA of 2.0. Refer to the chart below for program-specific requirements.
China
Senior Middle Two and Three results as well as a graduation certificate. Students may also be asked to report scores from the National College Entrance Examination of 70% or above grades.
English Language test scores are required.
India
Higher Secondary School Certificates awarded at XI or XII – with A, B or C grades.
English Language test scores may be required.
In addition to the General Admissions Requirements, grades XI and XII academic or advanced mathematics plus a minimum of one natural science are required. An additional science may be required, depending on the choice of major.
Students interested in a Bachelor of Science program but lack the required mathematics and science background may register in a Bachelor of Arts program and complete either MATH 1102 and 1103 or MATH 1113 to qualify for admission to the Bachelor of Science programs in Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics, or Psychology.
