Overview

Master of Nursing

Offer both a course-based and thesis-based Master’s program, both delivered by distance learning within North America. Both programs prepare students for leadership roles in health care or education fields as well as for further study at the doctoral level. 

These programs can be completed full-time in two years or part-time within five years.

offer Registered Nurses an opportunity to pursue a Master of Nursing Degree, with an advanced clinical practice focus. Students are required to complete 36 credit units of study, as well as a minimum of 720 practicum hours. 

Courses are designed so students can complete them within six consecutive terms or part-time over three years. Graduates will be able to write the Canadian Nurse Practitioner exam or the American Academy of Nurse Practitioner Certification Board.

Prospective graduate students who do not meet language proficiency requirements for admission may choose to fulfil those requirements by sucessfully completing the U-PREP program at the University of Saskatchewan Language Centre (USLC).
For students with a conditional admission to most graduate programs, the U-PREP program is an option to study academic English at the University of Saskatchewan before moving directly into their graduate program.

You must meet one of the following measures of English proficiency:

  • IELTS 6.0 (minimum 5.5 in all areas)
  • TOEFL iBT 75 (minimum 17 in all areas)
  • Duolingo 105 (minimum 100 in all areas)
  • Successful completion of Level 3 of the Language Centre's English for Academic Purposes program
  • Placement test at the USask Language Centre

Academic background and requirement

  • a cumulative weighted average of at least a 70% (USask grade system equivalent) in the last two years of study (i.e. 60 credit units)
