Overview

Master of Science in Kinesiology

The College of Kinesiology Graduate Program offers M.Sc. and PhD degrees in diverse areas including behavioural science, biomechanics, bone research, functional and exercise physiology, motor learning and control, and pedagogy.

The university students have access to office and lab space, work in a collaborative atmosphere, and have opportunities to gain research and teaching experience, participate in community outreach initiatives, volunteer activities and social events. Immersed in a research rich environment, the students are highly successful in terms of Tri-Council awards and publications and present their work regularly at major conferences, often within their first year.

The program offers M.Sc. and PhD degrees in the following areas:

  1. Physical activity and musculoskeletal health across the lifespan
  2. Social psychological research in physical activity for health promotion and disease prevention
  3. Women and girls' physical activity and health
  4. Pedagogy

Prospective graduate students who do not meet language proficiency requirements for admission may choose to fulfil those requirements by sucessfully completing the U-PREP program at the University of Saskatchewan Language Centre (USLC).
For students with a conditional admission to most graduate programs, the U-PREP program is an option to study academic English at the University of Saskatchewan before moving directly into their graduate program.

Academic background and requirement

1_ A cumulative weighted average of at least a 70% (USask grade system equivalent) in the last two years of study (i.e. 60 credit units) 2_ A four-year honours degree, or equivalent, from a recognized college or university in an academic discipline relevant to the proposed field of study, or a Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree
