• Mohawk College is the only one in Canada providing highly specialized training in transportation engineering technology.

Graduates are working across the country in planning, design and operations positions and have excellent opportunities for career advancement within this unique engineering field.

What you'll learn

• Understand transportation networks, public transportation systems, walking and cycling infrastructure and their roles in society.
• Develop planning skills to make decisions about present and future mobility needs.
• Apply current standards and practices to design roadways, intersections and other transportation facilities with safety as a key consideration.
• Acquire surveying, CAD, plan reading and visualization skills needed to create today’s modern infrastructure.
• Explore traffic data collection methods, traffic control devices and management strategies.
• Analyze operational performance, capacity and level of service (LOS) on streets, highways, public and transportation infrastructure, and walking and cycling infrastructure.

  • Notarized and translated into English
• English Proficiency Score Cards or equivalent (if applicable)
• Notarized Custodian Declaration (for those under the age of 18 by the start of the class)

OSSD or equivalent, including:

• Grade 12 English, C or U or equivalent
• Grade 12 Mathematics; MAP4C ≥ 80% or MCT4C; or any U or equivalent*
• Grade 11 Physics and Grade 10, 11 or 12 Design Technology recommended

Note: Applicants that do not satisfy minimum requirements will be provided with an alternate offer to the Pre-Technology tuition and program as a pathway to their desired program. 

Successful graduates from this program will be considered for advanced standing in the original program choice.

Options are available for mature applicants.

• Mature applicants aged 19 and over
• Applicants who are not currently in secondary school

Mohawk recognizes that life changes people’s directions. That’s why Mature Students don't need to have completed a secondary school diploma to enter a Mohawk College program.

Mohawk welcomes students from many backgrounds:

• Many Mohawk students arrive after being away from school and/or in the labour force for one year or more
• Almost 1/3 of Mohawk students are aged 23 or over, and there are students from every generation.
• Mohawk considers a mature applicant to be anyone 19 years of age or older who is planning to attend a full or part-time program at Mohawk College.
• Adult learners are an important part of our Mohawk community.
• With various work and life experiences, adult learners contribute their valuable perspectives to classroom and training programs while simultaneously obtaining new knowledge and skills.
