Overview

College Diploma - Motive Power Technician

Become skilled in motive power by training with industry-standard tools, diagnostic equipment, and lifts

You will learn to operate, diagnose and service all types of vehicles, from standard automobiles to industrial heavy-duty equipment, and have the opportunity to work on the latest technology by way of vehicle donations. 

You will perform actual service procedures on a wide variety of components found in the power train of heavy vehicles, install and set up clutches, and tear down and assess the condition of manual transmissions. 

Note: Successful completion is equivalent to Levels 1 and 2 (automobile) and Level 1 (truck and coach) Apprenticeship in-class portion.

For the English as a Second Language program, it requires a minimum IELTS score of 3.0; for entry into English for Academic Purposes, a minimum IELTS score of 4.5 is required. 

Both programs run full-time for 8 months. Students beginning in English as a Second Language will then take an additional 8 months full-time of English for Academic Purposes before moving into their program of study.
