The University of Otago's unique Applied Science degrees links the excitement of science and the power of technology with business challenges.
Applied Science programs help graduates become innovative thinkers with an entrepreneurial spirit, the attributes successful New Zealanders are well-known for.
It is a requirement that every program usually includes an approved minor subject or an approved second major subject.
Finding creative ways to save the planet.
From climate change and deforestation to soil erosion and species losses, the world seems plagued by a catalog of disasters that no one can stop.
The good news is more and more people are on the case.
Environmental Management is about coordinating these efforts – investigating problems, developing solutions, and working in multidisciplinary teams to get things done.
Otago’s Bachelor of Applied Science (BAppSc) in Environmental Management teaches you about the science of environmental systems and problems.
It covers the broader social, economic, and political context, including the requirements of environmental legislation.
Environmental Management gives you skills and knowledge to find creative responses to environmental challenges.
Why study Forensic Analytical Science?
The New Zealand kiwifruit is one of the most counterfeited items in the world.
New Zealand’s produce is often at the top end of the market, and well worth counterfeiting – if you can get away with it!
The techniques you’ll learn in this course can demonstrate the exact point of origin of foodstuffs.
The techniques are applicable to criminal forensic work as well, and the analytical skills you will learn will have much broader applications across a wide range of scientific fields.
