The Master of Teaching (Secondary) program at Federation University offers several pathways to suit your circumstances and to ensure you become a great teacher.
Students may choose to study on campus at Mt Helen (Ballarat) in an accelerated mode over 1.5 years.
They offer flexible pathways to suit peoples’ circumstances; this means blended options that include a combination of on-campus and online study are also possible.
If you are an international student living in regional Victoria, the Master of Teaching (Secondary) is offered over 2 years.
Through coursework linked to the Australian Graduate Teaching Standards, regular classroom observations, practitioner inquiries related to personal goals, regular opportunities to develop core teaching practices, and with the support of professional learning communities, students develop the skills, understandings and dispositions for effective teaching.
Federation University recently partnered with the Victorian Government to offer a new hybrid accelerated teacher training program for domestic students.
Applicants are required to hold a bachelor’s degree, be able to train and work in an area of workforce shortage and be successfully matched with a host school to be eligible.
This program requires a total of 480 placement hours across 12 weeks.
CASPer
All applicants are required to complete Altus Suite as part of their application. In addition, Altus Suite is a requirement for many of Victoria's initial teacher training courses.
It is a non-cognitive online test designed to assess an applicant's personal and professional attributes.

Compulsory: A referee report form must be completed to support the application. This form is emailed directly from the referee to the FedUni Admissions team, per the included submission directions.

Successful completion of two years full-time equivalent study at a recognised Australian university within the past two years
