The Master of Film and Television offers you intensive, studio-based training in writing, directing, and editing your own productions, with complementary studies in research methods, screen language, and technical crewing.
Across two years at the University of Melbourne, you will write, direct and edit three films in your chosen specialization.
The film duration and production parameters are extended as you move through the course and are aimed at facilitating the development of your unique, creative voice as a screen director.
As a practice-based course, Year One sees students introduced to facets of motion picture production within the chosen specialized stream, at a level that enables them to realize a major exercise in Semester Two to a professional standard.
The course is predominantly delivered through workshops, lectures, and tutorials.
The Master of Film and Television is a two-year course, with the option to exit after year one with a Graduate Diploma.
Entry level into the second year of the Master of Film and Television program is also offered.
The course can be undertaken in one of two specialized directing streams: Narrative, or Documentary.
