This degree, designed for high-achieving secondary school leavers, allows you to progress directly into Griffith Doctor of Medicine (5099)*.

In your first year, you will be introduced to the basic sciences underpinning medical science - anatomy, chemistry, biochemistry, genes and disease, law and ethics, microbiology, physiology, and epidemiology. 

You will also undertake an "interpersonal skills", which provides you with knowledge and skills in communication and patient interaction course.

In the second year, you will study these areas in greater depth and take medically focused courses in: 

Immunology, infectious disease, pharmacology, metabolism, structural biochemistry, and molecular genetics, as well as undertaking a capstone course (Integrated Medical Sciences) that integrates and applies the knowledge of basic sciences learned in your first and second years to solving clinical problems.

Honours is available through an additional year of study.

* The Doctor of Medicine is an extended Master's program (AQF Level 9).

Completion of secondary school comparable to Australian Year 12 or equivalent academic achievement.

Prerequisites: For applicants who completed secondary studies up to 3 years before applying and have not attempted tertiary study at diploma level or higher.

For International applicants from countries with recognised qualifications, admission to the Bachelor of Medical Science to commence in Trimester 1, 2024, will be determined by the following criteria:

• Academic achievement for Year 12 applicants in the year before entry
• OR academic achievement for applicants who have completed their senior secondary studies up to three years prior to application and who have not previously attempted tertiary study at Diploma level or higher
• all prerequisite subjects (or their equivalent) must be met.

For International applicants from countries with recognised qualifications, admission to the Bachelor of Medical Science to commence in Trimester 1, 2025 will be determined by the following criteria:

• Academic achievement for Year 12 applicants in the year before entry
• OR academic achievement for applicants who have completed their senior secondary studies up to one year prior to application and who have not previously attempted tertiary study at Diploma level or higher
• all prerequisite subjects (or their equivalent) must be met.

China:

Qualification: GaoKao: Successful completion of the National College Entrance Examination (Gao Kao) with a minimum of 91% of the overall maximum score.

India:

All India Senior School Certificate or Comparable Qualification (awarded by CBSE or CISCE): An overall grade average of 92% in the best four academic subjects

Iran:

Qualification: Iran Pre-University Certificate or Iranian High School Diploma from 2019: Grade average of 17.6 in the last year's results
