Charles Darwin University

Charles Darwin University (CDU) is founded on 50 years of delivering tertiary education in the Northern Territory (NT), Australia. CDU is the NT's largest tertiary institution, with campuses in the Darwin suburb of Casuarina, Palmerston, Alice Springs, Katherine and Nhulunbuy, and training centres in Jabiru, Tennant Creek and Yulara. 

CDU was formed in 2003 through a merger between the Northern Territory University, Alice Springs-based Centralian College, NT Rural College in Katherine, and the Menzies School of Health Research. Today, CDU offers a fresh approach to education, training, research and knowledge application. 

The University aspires to be internationally recognised as a center for excellence in Indigenous and cross-cultural knowledge, tropical knowledge and desert knowledge. As a multi-sector education provider, CDU provides unique pathways for students, from school-based vocational training through to advanced research degrees. Our students are drawn from the local area, across Australia and overseas, consisting of Indigenous and international students, school leavers, and mature age people returning to study.

Student concession for bus travel applies seven days a week for CDU students. You must present your Student ID card to the bus driver. There are plenty of accommodation options in Darwin: including on-campus accommodation, student accommodation, and private renting. 

On-campus accommodation is provided by Alice Springs Student Accommodation (ASSA) - Alice Springs campus, Katherine Student Accommodation (KSA) - Katherine campus, International House Darwin (IHD) - Casuarina campus (International House Darwin is: a two-minute walk to the CDU library, university amenities and teaching areas, within easy walking distance a major shopping area, equipped with computer facilities, study rooms, recreational areas and a swimming pool, well-equipped standard rooms, some with ensuite options). 

Off campus accommodation: The average rent is 600 to 800 AUD/month and The residence type includes studio apartments, 3 bedroom apartments, 4 bedroom apartments and shared apartments.
