The University of New England (UNE) is a public university in Australia. Originally named New England University College, UNE was established as a college of the University of Sydney in 1938. It was the second university established in New South Wales and Australia’s first regional university. Besides, the University of New England was the first Australian university established outside a capital city. With a history extending back to the 1920s, UNE has a well-earned reputation as one of Australia's great teaching, training and research universities.
UNE is internationally recognized for its innovative approach to online teaching and research excellence with 87% of its research fields rated world standard or above. It offers more than 200 courses at undergraduate, postgraduate coursework and higher degree research levels with options to study online or on campus.
Research endeavours are supported through a number of flagship research centers: The Animal and Genetics Breeding Unit (AGBU); The Center for Agriculture and Law (AgLaw); Center for Local Government; Institute for Rural Futures (IRF); The Paleoscience Research Centre; and The National Center of Science, Information and Communication Technology, and Mathematics Education for Rural and Regional Australia (SiMERR).

On campus accommodation: It is the cheapest option, starting from $150 per week. Live on campus in one of its Residential Colleges and take advantage of the lower cost and convenience. All of the bills are taken care of; free, unlimited Wi-Fi, and heating included. All colleges are convenient to the academic campus as well as sporting and social activities. A range of campus transport is offered during trimester and intensive school periods. UNELife provides students a range of regular shuttle services around the campus, and from Armidale.
In addition to this, UNE has installed two chargers with four designated parking spaces on each campus. Electric vehicle owners should contact the Sustainability Office to register their cars for the program. While charging is free, drivers will still need the required parking permits.
