Master of Property Development and Planning

This course at UTS is designed for property and planning practitioners and graduates in related fields who wish to extend their qualifications and expertise in property development and planning. 

Graduates commit to professionalism in the property and planning sector.

This course is for property and planning professionals who want to upgrade their qualifications or expertise or those who wish to enter the property and planning industries. 

In their first year, students understand how to balance private and public interests in urban development, how urban economies work, how urban design and sustainability principles are applied, and how development feasibility is assessed.

NOTE

Students not meeting the admission requirements below may begin with a Graduate Certificate and progress to the Master of Property Development and Planning.

Academic background and requirement

Applicants must have completed a UTS-recognised bachelor's degree, or an equivalent or higher qualification, or submitted other evidence of general and professional qualifications demonstrating potential to pursue graduate studies.

Pathway 1

  1. Applicants must have completed a UTS-recognised academic qualification or an equivalent (according to NOOSR (National Office of Overseas Skills Recognition) or UK NARIC (UK National Academic Recognition Information Centre)) as follows:
  • Bachelor's degree; OR
  • Graduate Certificate; OR
  • Graduate Diploma; OR
  • Master's degree.

    2. For applicants holding a Graduate Certificate or Graduate Diploma, the qualification must be at credit average or above in one of the following:

  • UTS Graduate Certificate in Planning; OR
  • UTS Graduate Certificate in Property and Planning; OR
  • UTS Graduate Certificate in Property Development; OR
  • UTS Graduate Diploma in Planning; OR
  • UTS Graduate Diploma in Property Development.

Pathway 2

For applicants with no Bachelor degree but holding a Graduate Certificate or Graduate Diploma not listed under pathway 1:

  • The qualification must be at credit average or above, in one of the following ‘cognate disciplines’: architecture, landscape architecture, urban design and regional planning, interior and environmental design, community development, property economics, property development, planning, geography, geographic information science (GIS), environmental science, law, economics; AND
  • applicants should provide a CV (maximum 3 pages) outlining at least three years full-time, or equivalent part-time, work experience* in a ‘cognate discipline’ listed above; AND
  • a 300-word personal statement clearly articulating their work experience related to urban planning and explaining their reasons to study the Master of Property Development and Planning.

* Work experience is not restricted to Australia. It can be for anywhere in the world within the relevant cognate field.
