Industrial design is a vital part of modern-day living.
We encounter products designed and manufactured daily to make our lives easier.
Industrial designers who incorporate a lateral and cross-disciplinary approach to problem-solving create the most useful products.
The primary focus of Western’s Industrial Design program is ensuring that graduates are entirely industry-ready, able to think strategically and provide innovative design solutions in a commercial context.
The program promotes an awareness of the place of design in society and its effect on people, the environment and the economy.
It provides students with the ability to work independently or collaboratively.
You will be required to undertake 10 weeks of industry placement, which encourages professional development and often leads to projects for the program's final year and, in some instances, direct employment upon graduation.
Additionally, graduates are eligible for professional membership in the Design Institute of Australia – the professional body representing designers in Australia.

The English Language Entrance test is an internal test for entry to The College and Western Sydney University programs only.
Academic English For Tertiary Studies
This program is designed for students with English as a second language who want to develop their language skills.
Each of the five English Academic Programs (EAPs) is taught over 10 weeks and includes 20 hours of face-to-face classroom time per week.

Assumed knowledge: any two units of English plus at least two units of Design, Design and Technology, Visual Arts, Digital Multimedia, Engineering, or Business Studies
Entry by interview, in which personal aptitude, experience, and educational qualifications are considered and supported by a portfolio of works.
After applying, applicants must book an interview and download a questionnaire using the university's online booking system.
The questionnaire provides applicants with further information on preparing their portfolio for the interview.
