Overview

Bachelor of Industrial Design (Honours)

Western industrial design graduates are expected to create and innovate by adding value to experiences, interactions, products, businesses and systems. 

They are design entrepreneurs and experts who can solve ambiguity. 

You will need to work independently or in collaboration with others in new product development teams, user experience and interaction, product service systems, production and manufacturing.  

The program culminates in a final-year industrial design project. 

This project aims to develop visionary work leading to industry placement, Master's or PhD research, focusing on the role of design in society and its impact on people, the environment, and the economy.

Western Sydney University seeks to enhance student learning experiences by enabling students to engage in their profession or discipline's culture, expectations and practices.

Academic background and requirement

Assumed knowledge: any two units of English plus at least two units of Design, Design and Technology, Visual Arts, Digital Multimedia, Engineering, or Business Studies

Alternate Entry

Entry by interview, in which personal aptitude, experience, and educational qualifications are considered and supported by a portfolio of works. 

After applying, applicants must book an interview and download a questionnaire using the university's online booking system. 

The questionnaire provides applicants with further information on preparing their portfolio for the interview.

  • Successful completion of Gao San with an 80% average in 3 years.

India: 

  • Indian Higher Secondary School Certificate (State Boards): Successful completion of Higher Secondary Certificate with a pass of 70% in the best 4 core subjects
  • All India School Certificate (CBSE): Successful completion of AISCE (CBSE) with an overall GPA of 60% in the best 4 core subjects
  • Indian School Certificate (ISC): Successful completion of ISCE with an overall GPA of 60% in the best 4 core subjects

Iran:

  • Successful completion of a recognised foundation studies program, 1 year of university studies or completion of a qualification equivalent to an Australian AQF Certificate IV
