The purpose of a M.Eng. degree is to increase student’s skills and knowledge in a particular aspect of mining or mineral processing. This program has the similar admission requirements to the MASc and offers the same courses but instead of a thesis, students are expected to take additional courses.
Since it is a technical degree students must have an undergraduate degree in a mining related discipline in engineering or science. Currently, M.Eng. degree students can specialize in one of four areas:
An M.Eng. degree consists of 24 credits of course work in a given area of interest and a 6 credit engineering project.
Usually this amounts to 8 courses, which must mainly be selected from offerings in the Faculty of Applied Science. Half of the courses should be mining related courses.
