The Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) at the Swinburne University of Technology is designed to equip you with technical expertise and management skills in an engineering field of your choice.

Learn advanced software engineering with an emphasis on teamwork, problem-solving and practical software engineering skills, including quality assurance, project management and industry-standard development techniques and tools. 

Graduates are eligible to apply for graduate membership in Engineers Australia.

Build up your CV with real industry experience.  

At the same time, you study through the Work Integrated Learning programs, which are a guaranteed part of all bachelor's degrees and can include placements, internships or industry-linked projects. 

In this double degree, you'll apply your learning in eight project units (one per semester) related to engineering in professionally focused, industry-linked projects.

Swinburne English Language Intensive Course for Overseas Students (ELICOS) is designed to help you improve your English language skills to study or progress your career.

Swinburne offers two types of English language courses: General English and English for Academic Purposes.

General English is designed to improve your language skills for day-to-day situations. It can also prepare you for further English language studies.

English for Academic Purposes is designed to teach you the language skills needed to study at university. 

It can help you meet the minimum English language entry requirements for entry to your chosen course at Swinburne.

Academic background and requirement

Standard Entry
Successful completion of: 

  • the Victorian Certificate of Education (VCE) or its equivalents, such as an interstate or international Year 12 qualification.
  • completion or partial completion of an approved tertiary qualification (including Diplomas, Advanced Diplomas, Associate Degrees and Degrees).

Course Prerequisites

  • VCE Units 3 and 4 – a minimum study score of 25 in any English (except EAL) or 30 in English as an Additional Language (EAL) or equivalent.
  • VCE Units 3 and 4: a minimum study score of 20 in Mathematical Methods (CAS) or equivalent.

Swinburne Foundation Year (Science / Engineering) (8 months) is a pre-university program for international students. 

It is designed to help students meet the entry requirements for first-year university or progress to a UniLink diploma.

It can equip students for further studies in various science and engineering-related areas, such as civil engineering, mechanical engineering, aviation, photonics, biotechnology, telecommunication, and internet technologies.
