Overview

Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) (Mechanical and Advanced Manufacturing)

In your first year, you will develop a strong foundation in engineering, including computer programming, applied mathematics and physics. 

As you advance in your studies, you will explore the latest in manufacturing such as intelligent systems and industrial actuation and automation. 

Topics will include:

UniSA STEM Professional Practice Program allows you to apply the skills and knowledge you've acquired throughout your degree in real-world settings.

At least half of the Honours year will involve a major project. 

You will take the lead as an engineer in a project environment, working with industry, a government organisation, or an academic research area.

With the focus of this degree on real solutions for real-world engineering problems, you will develop advanced knowledge and practical skills in:

  • fluid mechanics and thermodynamics
  • advanced materials and design for manufacturing
  • intelligent manufacturing systems and digital prototyping
  • industrial actuation and robotics
  • economic analysis for production and engineering projects
  • quality control and project management

You will learn in purpose-built, industry-standard facilities equipped with software platforms and collaborative digital environments that will prepare you for Industry 4.0.

An internship in your final year will see you complete projects that tackle engineering challenges for industry clients.

Language pathway (conditional offer) is available

Successful completion of the Centre for English Language at the University of South Australia (CELUSA) Academic English Program: Level 4 (AE4)

 

If you do not meet the English language entry requirements, you can successful completion of the Centre for the English Language at the University of South Australia (CELUSA) Academic English Program. 

 
If they successfully complete the AE program at an appropriate level, students applying to these institutions will not need to take IELTS or any other English language test. 

Depending on their English level upon commencement of the AE program and their required IELTS score for further studies, students will study for between 10 and 40 weeks.

If you are an international student studying Year 12 in Australia, you need to apply via the South Australian Tertiary Admissions Centre (SATAC).

Successful completion of the Pre-University Certificate OR High School Diploma

 

Applicants are required to meet one of the following criteria with a competitive result and demonstrate that they fulfil any prerequisite requirements and essential requirements for admission:

 

Recent secondary education
Meet any prerequisite requirements with a minimum grade of C- or equivalent
AND

  • Qualify for the South Australian Certificate of Education (SACE), and achieve a competitive Selection Rank (ATAR), or
  • Complete secondary qualifications equivalent to SACE, or
  • Complete the International Baccalaureate Diploma with a minimum score of 24 points

Applicants who have not achieved the Selection Rank required for automatic selection may be selected for any remaining places based on the grades of their year 12 subjects.

Higher education study

  • Complete or partly complete a recognised higher education program at a recognised higher education institution, or
  • Complete at least four Open Universities Australia (OUA) courses at the undergraduate level or above

Vocational Education and Training (VET)

  • Complete an award from a registered training organisation at Certificate IV or above

  • Qualify for Special Entry, or
  • Complete a UniSA Foundation Studies program or equivalent, or
