Bachelor of Business - Finance

Join Massey University’s finance program to gain superior decision-making skills and career advantage.

Finance and financial decision-making include determining what to invest in, how to pay or finance the investments, and what to do with the money earned on those investments.

Real-world learning

As a BBus (Finance) student, you will have access to the university's state-of-the-art Trading Room. 

Here you will gain real-world experience in financial markets and financial assets including shares, bonds, foreign exchange, options, and futures. 

Massey’s dedicated student investment fund can also provide you with real fund management experience.

Sound theoretical foundation

The BBus (Finance) will give you a sound theoretical foundation. You will develop your decision-making, logic, and analytical skills to solve real business problems.

You will learn about financial markets and how they impact on decision-making in organizations. 

You will also study the core finance areas of business finance, investments, financial institutions, and markets, as well as risk management practices in these core areas.  

At a more advanced level, you can choose from courses in advanced business finance, international finance, investment analysis, financial risk management (futures and options), and banking.

 

Year Three

In your final year, you will progress to advanced studies in your chosen major. 

You will be able to do an internship course this year, as well as an advanced course in your major topic. 

This brings your business knowledge, communication and teamwork, critical thinking skills, and understanding of ethics together in a capstone course.

Academic background and requirement

To be admitted to an undergraduate qualification, applicants will need a minimum level of academic achievement from school, or another university or tertiary institution

The specific level depends on which country or region of the world they are from.

China:

  • Senior High School graduation plus successful completion of one year of bachelor's-level study from a recognized institution; or
  • Successful completion of a two-year diploma, or a minimum of two years out of a three-year diploma from a recognized institution; or
  • Completed Gaokao with a tier-one score from the related province

India: 

  • All India Senior School Certificate (AISSC) Year 12 or Indian School Certificate (ISC) Year 12, with an overall average of 75% and a minimum of 60% in English; or
  • Higher Secondary School Certificate (HSC) – State Board Examination in the states of Andhra Pradesh, Gujurat, Karnataka, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, and West Bengal, with:
    • an overall average of 85% or higher (with no less than four academic subjects), with
    • a minimum of 70% or above in English.
