Overview

College Diploma in Business - Finance

The Business - Finance program at Conestoga College is a two-year diploma that prepares students for entry-level careers in the financial services sector.

Students will acquire a broad range of professional service and technical skills necessary for various employment settings in all business and industry sectors, including banks and other financial institutions, government offices, small businesses and financial planning firms.

Graduates of the program can challenge the Qualified Associate Financial Planning Designation (QAFP) to engage in financial planning and provide financial services to Canadians.

Graduates will also have the skills to apply computer, communication and mathematical skills and employ financial planning and service techniques to support activities, including the maintenance, preparation and presentation of individuals' or organizations' financial documents and statements and individuals' tax returns.

In addition, graduates collaborate on several more complex functions, including financial analysis, planning and control.

Note:

  • Relevant courses in this 2-year program have been approved by FP Canada. Upon graduation from the program and taking additional FP Canada-approved courses, graduate students can challenge the Qualified Associate Financial Planning Designation (QAFP).
  • Students have the option to challenge the Canadian Securities Course (CSC) and the Life Licensing Qualifying Program (LLQP) industry examinations, which provide credentials that are highly sought after by employers. There are additional fees associated with both industry examinations.
