Your study of public relations delivers knowledge and skills that are in increasing demand – public relations is one of the fastest-growing specialist areas in business.

The Massey Bachelor of Communication (Public Relations) will build the skills you need for a successful career in public relations. You will develop your interpersonal and inter-group communication abilities. You’ll also learn strategic thinking, planning, writing, research and information processing skills.

You’ll learn how to help organisations to communicate in persuasive and ethical ways with their staff, customers, regulators, communities, investors, and society. Public relations practitioners:

  • organise events
  • write and edit media releases
  • write and edit online and print newsletters and publications
  • develop strategic public relations plans, and
  • build relationships through digital media.

Academic background and requirement

Students must have successful completion of a qualification equivalent to the New Zealand Year 13 - NCEA Level 3 University Entrance. International students need to check the equivalency of their secondary school qualification by reviewing the Academic Admission Requirements by Country.

China:

  • Senior High School graduation plus successful completion of one year bachelors level study from a recognised institution; or
  • Successful completion of a two year Diploma, or a minimum of two years out of a three year Diploma from a recognised institution; or
  • Completed Gaokao with a tier one score from the related province

India: All India Senior School Certificate (AISSC) or Indian School Certificate (ISC) Year 12 with an overall average of 75% and a minimum of 60% in English.

Full Foundation - Certificate in Foundation Studies: Successful completion of this qualification will give you admission to university and prepare you for undergraduate study.
