Overview

Master of Professional Accounting / Master of Financial Planning

This unique, highly certified master's double degree puts you in a position to take advantage of the shortage of professionally recognised accountants and financial planners.

In keeping with Swinburne’s strength in entrepreneurship and innovation, you will focus on cutting-edge technology and building an entrepreneurial mindset.

The strong links with industry and alumni support your experiential learning with student-centred projects, sharing insights, and providing real, topical challenges and mentoring.

With your advanced conceptual and practical knowledge, this double degree will prepare you for a career in accounting, taxation, financial planning, investment, banking, risk management or insurance.

As a combined program, you can attain two sought-after master's qualifications in the time it normally takes to complete one.

In addition, recognition of prior study and experience is available and may provide up to six credit units, further shortening the study duration.

This qualification is professionally accredited through CPA Australia, Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand (CAANZ) and the Financial Planning Education Council (FPEC) on behalf of the Financial Planning Association of Australia (FPA).

It has the approval of the Financial Advisers Standards and Ethics Authority (FASEA), mandated for all financial planners or advisors who practice in Australia.

Swinburne’s partnership with the FPA means you can additionally combine this qualification with the CFP® Certification Program.

By completing the final CFP® Certification Unit as an additional unit, you’ll meet the educational requirements of the CFP® Certification Program upon graduation.

You can then apply for the CFP® designation once you’ve also met industry experience requirements.
