College Diploma - Social Service Worker

This program at Canadore College will give you the knowledge and skills you need to enter this rewarding career field. Learn skills and methods that will prepare you to work in different settings and challenging situations. 

Themes include social justice, empowerment of marginalized citizens, and ethics. 

You will also be introduced to Indigenous history and culture through Canada's First Peoples Course. Graduates can go on to work with individuals or groups in a variety of community settings.

For the English as a Second Language program, it requires a minimum IELTS score of 3.0; for entry into English for Academic Purposes, a minimum IELTS score of 4.5 is required. 

Both programs run full-time for 8 months. Students beginning in English as a Second Language will then take an additional 8 months full-time of English for Academic Purposes before moving into their program of study.
