The Lambton Institute of English is operated by Lambton College, a public, not-for-profit Ontario post-secondary institution that provides high-quality academic training in English as a Second Language (ESL) and English for Academic Purposes (EAP).
This Board of Governors certificate program is designed for full-time students who need to improve their English language skills for post-secondary study.
The program is divided into two categories. English as a Second Language (ESL) and English for Academic Purposes (EAP).
The former focuses on establishing a strong foundation in the four skills of speaking, reading, writing, and listening in levels elementary and intermediate. The latter focuses on using these four skills for academic purposes.
Level | CEFR | Category | |
---|---|---|---|
Level 1 | Elementary | A2 | ESL |
Level 2 | Intermediate | B1 | ESL |
Level 3 | High-Intermediate | B2 | EAP |
Following the completion of this Board of Governors certificate program, students are eligible for entry into an academic diploma or post-graduate program.
Entry into the Elementary Level requires a minimum score of 20 points on the Oxford Online Placement Test, which is equivalent to the CEFR A2.
The admissions process is competitive and meeting the minimum academic requirements does not guarantee admission.
In order to keep pace with the requirements of each and every course in your program, Lambton College recommends that each student have access to a laptop while studying at our college.
