Bachelor of Outdoor and Environmental Education

You love the outdoors and want to share this passion with other people. You want to lead, inspire and teach others. 

You want a degree that will allow you to explore alpine areas, rock climb, paddle and bushwalk.

When you graduate, you want options to work in different areas across your career. 

During this degree at Federation University, you'll learn leadership, teaching and people skills and put these into practice in various settings.

Your subjects blend hands-on and theoretical work, including outdoor leadership, community and bush environments, and coastal environments. 

Your studies will focus on blending hands-on experiences, such as camps, and fieldwork, with the theory, learned. 

Your future may see you teaching in Australia or overseas or running outdoor education centres. 

Perhaps you'll work in resorts, councils or community organisations. And maybe you'll start your own ecotourism company.

Academic background and requirement

Successful completion of Australian Year 12 or overseas equivalent.

Students with post-school qualifications (e.g. diplomas, advanced diplomas) may be considered for admission with advanced standing or credit (recognition of prior learning).

China:

  • Gao San (Senior High Year 3) (Year 12) with an average of 75% in four academic subjects. OR
  • 高考Gao Kao cut-off score for Tier 2 Chinese Universities. OR
  • Completion of one-year post-secondary study with at least an average score of 70% at a recognized institution.

India: 

  • Completion of All India Senior School Certificate (CBSE) or Indian School Certificate (CISCE) with an average of 60% in the best four academic subjects*.
  • OR Higher Secondary Certificate with an average of 70% (for Punjab and Haryana) or 65% (for other State Boards)in the best four academic subjects*

*excludes local languages, work experience, physical education and other nonacademic subjects

Foundation Studies Program

This pre-university program is designed specifically for students to meet the requirements to enter the first year of an undergraduate degree or one of the Higher Education Diplomas.
