This course leads to two separate degrees:

  • Bachelor of Music

You will gain all the benefits of each degree course (see Bachelor of Arts/Bachelor of Music) and be fully equipped to pursue a career in either field separately or to combine the two in your chosen work.

As a graduate with a degree in Arts and another in Music you could pursue a career in the arts sector, performance, music instruction or composing, or in interdisciplinary roles, such as production, arts management, policy or coaching.

With Monash English Bridging, you will learn to develop the English language and academic skills required for pursuing diplomas, undergraduate, graduate and higher degrees of research courses at Monash – without the need to sit for an IELTS test.

Monash English provides a direct pathway to Foundation Year and Monash English Bridging, without the need to sit an IELTS (or equivalent) test

You can enter Monash English at any level. 

You will need to sit an approved English language test and achieve a minimum score of IELTS 4. Or, you can complete the Monash English Placement Test and enter without an IELTS score.

If you haven’t met the English requirements for direct entry, you may be eligible for the Monash English Bridging (MEB) program. If you successfully complete MEB, you can join your chosen destination degree.

Academic background and requirement

All Monash undergraduate courses require you to have successfully completed a minimum of an Australian Year 12 qualification (or equivalent).

Additional requirements

You must complete an audition/composition submission.

Higher Education:

To be considered on the basis of tertiary study alone, applicants who have completed VCE or equivalent will be required to complete the equivalent of one year (48 credit points) of a recognised university degree and will require an average result of at least 60% (including failed units). 

For applicants who have completed less than the equivalent of one year of study, both the senior secondary qualification results and the units completed will be considered.
