The Bachelor of Politics, Philosophy and Economics (BPPE) is an innovative degree that equips graduates with the intellectual and practical skills necessary to comprehend and navigate the changing world in the 21st century.
The BPPE has a unique Industry Advisory Board consisting of all Monash University global alumni from across government and corporate sectors.
The Advisory Board brings real-world knowledge, insight and advice to connect theory and learning with what industry needs so the students graduate with career ready skills.
Whatever the field of law, international law, intellectual property, criminal law, human rights law, biotechnology law, tax or family law, lecturers at Monash will challenge you to develop career-ready skills in legal knowledge, research, analysis and persuasive written and oral communication.
You will acquire a solid foundation in the concepts, procedures and reasoning underpinning the Australian legal system and the research, analytical and communication skills of the legal profession.
You will also be challenged to think critically and creatively, to resist easy answers or simplistic solutions and to develop an ethical and intellectual framework within which to understand what it means to be human, and how this changes over time.
Graduates will finish their BPPE having mastered the main ideas shaping the understanding of the social world.
They will move beyond existing frameworks by studying at the creative intersections between politics, philosophy and economics.
This interdisciplinary grounding will culminate in practical, skills-based applications of the conceptual tools provided by the BPPE to produce graduates ready for the challenges and possibilities of the century ahead.
In later years of the course, you will be able to choose from a broad range of elective law units.
You will have opportunities to study overseas, and to undertake work-based learning, for example, in the legal clinical program and in local and international internships.

With Monash English Bridging, you will learn to develop the English language and academic skills required for pursuing diplomas, undergraduate, graduate and higher degrees of research courses at Monash – without the need to sit for an IELTS test.
Monash English provides a direct pathway to Foundation Year and Monash English Bridging, without the need to sit an IELTS (or equivalent) test
You can enter Monash English at any level.
You will need to sit an approved English language test and achieve a minimum score of IELTS 4. Or, you can complete the Monash English Placement Test and enter without an IELTS score.
If you haven’t met the English requirements for direct entry, you may be eligible for the Monash English Bridging (MEB) program. If you successfully complete MEB, you can join your chosen destination degree.

All Monash undergraduate courses require you to have successfully completed a minimum of an Australian Year 12 qualification (or equivalent).

Non- school leavers:
Applicants who have partially completed an undergraduate degree must have completed the equivalent of one year of full time study (a minimum of 48 credit points) and a maximum of two years (96 credit points) of a recognised university degree; and achieved a distinction average or better across all the university units, irrespective of discipline.
It is important to note that achieving a distinction average does not guarantee a successful application.
The distinction average is a minimum entry criteria to be eligible for admission, and the average will then be the basis for ranking candidates. Selection is competitive due to limited places available.
Graduate entry requirements:
Non-law graduates considering a career in the law are only eligible to apply for the Juris Doctor.
The Faculty of Law does not accept single unit enrolments for undergraduate studies, except for cross institutional enrolments or for law graduate returning to complete units in order to practise in Victoria.
If you have a complete or incomplete international bachelor degree, it must be accredited and equivalent to an Australian level where the entry requirement will vary than listed above.
