Combining Anthropology and Archaeology gives you a unique skill set to understand contemporary and past human society.

Anthropology seeks to understand similarities and differences across diverse human societies to learn about what it means to be human

While studying anthropology at the University of Southern Queensland, you will be introduced to diverse global cultures, focusing on understanding our own lives' social and cultural experiences. 

You will delve into critical questions about society’s most pressing issues, such as religious and cultural conflict, gender discrimination, racism, food security and other social inequalities.

Your studies in anthropology include opportunities to practice key methods of ethnography, undertake specialised courses in religion, medical anthropology, and food and culture, and experience hands-on and applied for work in museum and heritage studies. 

With opportunities for hands-on archaeological training, including field methods, laboratory analysis and project design, and exploring the complexity of how people lived and interacted with one another throughout history.

Suppose you have previously studied in your home country. 

In that case, you may be eligible for recognition of prior learning to reduce the number of courses you must study to finish your program.

Language pathway (conditional offer) is available

EAP includes two levels, and each level takes 10 weeks to complete. 

To start your studies in EAP, you will need an IELTS result of at least 5.0 in the four macro skills or an equivalent recognised English international test.

Students from non-English backgrounds residing in Australia should meet the following entry requirements:

  • Completing senior secondary schooling in the home country or equivalent, Year 12 in an Australian High School, completed 'A' levels or mature age entry.
  • EAP I: IELTS 5.0 or equivalent
  • EAP II: IELTS 5.5 or equivalent (undergraduate, postgraduate coursework, postgraduate research and doctorate)
