Overview

Bachelor of Radiation Sciences (Informatics)

Whether you’re passionate about working directly with patients, or want to improve healthcare through data and technology, studying radiation sciences allows you to play an important role in shaping the future health landscape.

Through the Bachelor of Radiation Sciences, you’ll develop scientific and technical expertise, alongside an understanding of medical radiation science, the Australian health system and fundamentals of patient care.

With opportunities to immerse yourself in the latest technology, you’ll participate in 3D treatment simulations and learn how to use radiation therapy planning and medical imaging software.

Within this course, you’ll have the choice of two specialisations: radiation sciences or informatics.

International students may only undertake the Informatics stream

In the Bachelor of Radiation Sciences you will:

  • Understand the science behind medical radiation physics, image processing and radiation treatments.
  • Discover different medical imaging technologies and get hands-on practice in the radiography and ultrasound labs on campus.
  • Learn how to collect, organise, interpret and report health data, and explore how new data analytics and artificial intelligence can transform the healthcare system.

Your qualification will be a Bachelor of Radiation Sciences (Informatics)

Available to domestic and international students

Combine radiation sciences with information technology, to understand how systems and data can transform healthcare. You’ll learn about the fundamentals of radiation sciences, but also about digital health and data management.

Through this specialisation, you’ll gain knowledge and skills in areas like programming, network design, database management and system security, allowing you to explore future careers in the growing field of health informatics.

Professional practice skills:

This theme addresses the knowledge and skills for radiation therapy practice.

The focus will be on the incorporation of the best available research evidence with the clinical reasoning skills of assessment, management, evaluation and health care across the lifespan and across a spectrum of environments and circumstances.
