The demand for community-based healthcare services has never been higher.
This 8-month Ontario College Certificate at Conestoga College is ideal for you if you want to assume a front-line role in a medical, dental, or wellness office or a clerical support role in long-term care or the insurance industry.
You will gain a working knowledge of the medical terminology, computer technologies and office practices that are vital components of today's busy medical, dental and wellness offices.
Through hands-on application with industry Electronic Medical Records software (EMR) and a simulated work environment, you will learn medical and wellness office tasks such as patient scheduling, billing, and medical document production, as well as hone your professional verbal, written communication and customer service skills.
When you successfully complete the Medical Office Practices certificate, you may choose to apply for the second year of the Health Office Administration diploma with advanced standing.
Space in the second year of the Health Office Administration program may be limited; if you wish to complete the diploma, you are encouraged to apply directly to that program to ensure acceptance to the second year.
