This program at UTS allows students to complete the Master of Engineering (ME) and the Master of Engineering Management (MEM) in two years of full-time study.
The course follows an integrated approach to professional practice through professional engineering subjects, subjects relating to the major, an independent graduate project (in the area of the major), and a set of electives.
This course is for professional engineers who want to combine the Master of Engineering with a specific major with the Master of Engineering Management.
Students are required to complete 96 credit points, comprising professional engineering/management subjects (42 credit points), a major (42 credit points) including an independent project, and electives (12 credit points).
The project component consists of a preparatory subject and a project (in the area of the major), which must be undertaken in successive sessions, typically the final two sessions of the course.
The biomedical engineering major will provide students with advanced knowledge of this discipline.
This major will help students develop the essential knowledge and skills specialised in Genomics and Bioinformatics, or 3D Bionanotechnology or Bio-instrumentation through practice-oriented learning.
Graduates will be able to develop skills in using 3D CAD design (Solidworks), prototyping, building nanodevices, designing sensors, molecular diagnostics (PCR and sequencing), bioinformatics and printing biomaterials applicable to improve human health.
Subjects are taught in an interactive, studio-like format focused on industry-informed problems.
