Overview

Master of Engineering - Telecommunications and Electronics Master of Engineering Management

This program at UTS allows students to complete the Master of Engineering (ME) and the Master of Engineering Management (MEM) in two years of full-time study.

The course follows an integrated approach to professional practice through professional engineering subjects, subjects relating to the major, an independent graduate project (in the area of the major), and a set of electives.

Students are required to complete 96 credit points, comprising professional engineering/management subjects (42 credit points), a major (42 credit points) including an independent project, and electives (12 credit points).

The project component consists of a preparatory subject and a project (in the area of the major), which must be undertaken in successive sessions, typically the final two sessions of the course.

This major allows students to experience the possibilities that arise through the convergence of telecommunications and electronic systems.

5G networking, the Internet of Things (IoT), photonic and advanced transmission systems, and advanced signal processing techniques enable new models of communication that far exceed previous capabilities.

These areas are underpinned by recent developments in microelectronics and an increasing emphasis on cybersecurity.

In this major, students start with a foundation of communication protocols and wireless sensor networks (for IoT).

From there, they can choose from various subjects, including next-generation cellular networks, software-defined networks, cybersecurity, adaptive signal processing and fabrication of sensors and components for IoT networks.
