Master of Information Technology (Extension) - Internetworking

The Master of Information Technology (Extension) in Internetworking at UTS offers specialised training in network infrastructure, protocols, security, and administration. 

Students gain advanced knowledge in routing and switching, network design, cybersecurity, and cloud networking. 

Students develop practical skills in configuring, managing, and securing complex networks through hands-on projects and industry collaborations. 

Accredited by relevant industry bodies, the program ensures graduates meet professional standards and are prepared for network engineering, cybersecurity, and IT management roles. 

Upon completion, graduates are equipped to address the evolving challenges of internetworking in today's digital landscape, contributing to the advancement of secure and efficient communication infrastructures.

Students who wish to undertake a substantial research project can transfer to the Master of Information Technology (Advanced).

The number of electives depends on whether students choose a 6-credit-point or 12-credit-point project.

Academic background and requirement

Applicants must have completed a UTS-recognised bachelor's degree, or an equivalent or higher qualification, or submitted other evidence of general and professional qualifications demonstrating potential to pursue graduate studies.

It is a requirement that the bachelor's degree be in information technology, with no more than 25 per cent of subjects failing. 

Applicants must have completed programming, data modelling, and networking subjects equivalent to the Professional stream (IT) component of the Master of Information Technology.
