Overview

Master of Business Information Systems

The Master of Business Information Systems (MBIS) at Monash University prepares you for careers in systems design, planning and management, as well as knowledge and information management.

You gain the expertise to design solutions to business information problems, and to offer strategic guidance to organisations that will enhance their management and governance.

As an MBIS graduate, you may find work as a business analyst, systems analyst, consultant, project leader, IT manager or information management specialist.

In your final semester, you may take part in an Industry Experience program, working in a small team with industry mentors to develop entrepreneurial IT solutions.

Or you may undertake a minor-thesis research project, investigating cutting-edge problems in BIS under the supervision of internationally recognised researchers.

Structure

The course is structured in three part: Part A. Foundations for advanced business information systems, Part B. Core master's study and Part C. Advanced practice.

Advanced practice:

You have two options:

  • a research pathway including a thesis. If you wish to use this master's course as a pathway to a higher degree by research you should take this first option.
  • a program of coursework involving advanced study and an industry experience studio project.
