Through SEL703 Professional Practice, you'll gain industry experience by completing at least 30 to 60 days of practical work experience in an engineering workplace.
The key assessment of research and research skills in the programme is through the two linked 2 credit point units in the final year of the course.
In your final year of the course, you may apply to undertake an international study tour to engage in a structured program of study, usually involving short project work overseas to gain discipline-specific, technical expertise and enhance your global engineering awareness and experience.

You will take the Placement Test before the start of your course.
If you're currently studying Year 12 or completed Year 12 in the last two years, you will need to meet all the following criteria to be considered for admission to this degree:
Year 12 prerequisite subjects
Complete foundation studies and/or a diploma program at Deakin College or one of Deakin's TAFE partners.
Australian Foundation Program: 65%
Note: Equivalent to an Australian Year 12 certificate.
The Deakin College Foundation Program is equivalent to upper secondary school (Year 12) and university foundation programs.
It aims to prepare you for further study in a Deakin College Diploma or entry into the first year of a selected Deakin University bachelor's degree.
Deakin College’s Diploma of Engineering is a broad introductory course that will prepare you with the skills and knowledge for a full spectrum of opportunities in the field.
When you enter the second year of your Deakin University bachelor's degree, choose to specialise in civil, electrical and electronics, environmental, mechanical or mechatronics engineering.
