Bachelor of Sport Development

Turn your passion for sport into a rewarding career with Deakin’s Bachelor of Sport Development.

You will learn to build the capacity of community sports organisations, clubs, leagues and associations and learn practical methods to guide sports organisations in strategy, governance, policy and risk management.

State-of-the-art sports precincts and a long list of sports partners include the Deakin Melbourne Boomers, Netball Victoria, the Melbourne Vixens, Geelong Football Club, and Cricket Australia. 

This means you will study in elite environments on and off campus.

With over 100 hours of work placement, you can work alongside established professionals in sport while building industry experience that will prepare you for your future career.

Work experience

This course includes Work Integrated Learning (WIL), which is formally registered as part of the course on the CRICOS register.

Academic background and requirement

Current or recent Year 12

If you're currently studying Year 12 or completed Year 12 in the last two years, you will need to meet all the following criteria to be considered for admission to this degree:

Year 12 prerequisite subjects

  • Units 3 and 4: a study score of at least 25 in English EAL (English as an Additional Language) or at least 20 in English other than EAL

 You may be considered for admission to this degree based on other qualifications as follows:

  • Higher education study
  • Polytechnic study
  • Work and life experience

 

  • China:

Complete foundation studies and/or a diploma program at Deakin College or one of Deakin's TAFE partners.

Australian Foundation Program:       65%

Note: Equivalent to an Australian Year 12 certificate.

 

  • India (standard class XII):     65%

 

Foundation Program:

The Deakin College Foundation Program is equivalent to upper secondary school (Year 12) and university foundation programs. 

It aims to prepare you for further study in a Deakin College Diploma or entry into the first year of a selected Deakin University bachelor's degree.
