In Macquarie’s Bachelor of Commerce, you’ll study extensive and integrated foundation units that will orient you to commerce and business.

Economists understand complicated economic and social processes, inform businesses and governments on how best to use scarce resources and contribute to developing economic policies to ensure economic prosperity.

The Economics major provides an excellent education in modern economics's leading theories and concepts. 

The quantitative and analytical skills you’ll acquire will enable you to understand how individuals make optimal economic decisions, how organisations operate in the global economy, and how governments respond to home and global economic challenges.

Academic background and requirement

To apply for an undergraduate program, international students will need to have completed one or more of the following academic qualifications:

  • A recognised senior secondary school qualification or university entrance examination, such as the New South Wales Higher School Certificate (NSW HSC) or other equivalent Australian or overseas high school qualification
  • A recognised university Foundation course
  • A recognised 2 or 3-year Diploma, Advanced Diploma or Associate Degree
  • At least one year of a university degree from a recognised institution

Assumed knowledge

  • HSC Mathematics Advanced or equivalent.

If you don't have the assumed knowledge, you're advised to include a mathematics or quantitative methods elective unit in your first year of study.
