Chemistry is a branch of science concerned with molecules' synthesis, analysis, reactions and properties. 

The study of chemistry is traditionally broken up into five subdisciplines: analytical, inorganic, organic and physical chemistry, biochemistry and stereochemistry.

The Chemistry major focuses on modern chemical principles and practice, including the synthesis and identification of substances. 

Chemistry’s application to environmental, health, materials, and biological challenges is vital to this major. 

You’ll learn to apply chemistry principles and concepts, from their testable and contestable nature to theoretical and practical problems and tasks.

To apply for an undergraduate program, international students will need to have completed one or more of the following academic qualifications:

• A recognised senior secondary school qualification or university entrance examination, such as the New South Wales Higher School Certificate (NSW HSC) or other equivalent Australian or overseas high school qualification
• A recognised university Foundation course
• A recognised 2 or 3-year Diploma, Advanced Diploma or Associate Degree
• At least one year of a university degree from a recognised institution

Foundation and Intensive programs

If you have completed at least a Year 11 equivalent qualification and need additional academic support or further English skills to enter the first year of your undergraduate degree, these programs are for you. 

• Standard Foundation program

The Standard Foundation program is designed for students needing extra academic and English support before they are undergraduate-ready. You need to have completed at least a Year 11 equivalent qualification to apply.

• Intensive program

The Intensive program is designed for students needing extra academic support before they are undergraduate-ready. You need to have completed a Year 12 equivalent qualification to apply.
