Overview

Bachelor of Environment - Environmental Sciences

Macquarie’s Bachelor of Environment explores critical environmental systems and processes, relationships between humans and their environments, and the interactions influencing sustainable futures.

Environmental science is concerned with understanding natural processes, how they connect to form the natural environment and how we can establish, disentangle and manage the impact and effect of human disturbances, climate change and environmental pollution.

The Environmental sciences major focuses on hands-on practical learning in the field and the lab, where you’ll explore critical topics, including

Geomorphology of rivers, wetlands, coasts and dunes; pollutants and contaminants in soil, water and sediment; climate change and atmospheric processes; urban air quality; and extreme weather events.

You’ll learn to assess the vulnerability of human societies, ecosystems, landscapes and the atmosphere; design and implement rigorous experiments; use advanced measurement and monitoring instruments; and analyse and evaluate scientific data.

Key features

  • Undertake field trips in Australia and overseas (Gain practical experience in New South Wales, such as Seal Rocks and Wee Jasper, and in New Zealand and further afield.)
  • Complete an extensive supervised project (Undertake an industry-based project to solve a real-world problem, and be prepared for a successful start to your career.)
