As Australia's first forensic science degree, the world-class UTS Bachelor of Forensic Science is recognised for producing future leaders in this compelling practice field.
Biology:
The Biology major is focused on biological traces – blood, saliva, hair, bones, insects, and animal/human remains – and what they reveal about the crime scenes at which they’re found.
Learning includes everything from human anatomy and molecular biology to genetics, DNA profiling, and biological criminalistics.
Students gain broad expertise at the intersection of scientific theory and forensic practice.
They also learn various techniques and methodologies to analyse and process biological traces, preparing them to deliver meaningful insights within and beyond the criminal investigation process.
Research subject: In the final year of study, students produce an original piece of research that responds to a real-world forensic science challenge.
Free electives: Students can enrol in an international exchange, pursue a professional internship, or tailor their studies with a choice of subjects from any UTS faculty.

UTS Science offers bridging courses in Maths, Chemistry, Physics, and Biology.
Bridging courses help prepare you for university studies and learning in the university environment.
Subjects taught in bridging courses do not carry any credit towards your degree but will help you prepare for first-year university subjects.
This may include students enrolling in science courses or other areas of study such as engineering, business, nursing, health, architecture, education, and information technology.
If you don't meet the admission requirements for this course, there may be alternative pathways to help you gain admission.
If you’re an international student looking for a university preparation program, UTS Foundation Studies is designed to help you take your next step into Australian university study.
Students who successfully complete the program will qualify for the first year of most undergraduate degrees at UTS or a UTS College diploma for those who need more preparation.
