Throughout Deakin's Bachelor of Environmental Science (Environmental Management and Sustainability), you will explore ways to manage the interaction between people and the environment.
Combining the latest research with extensive application of skills in professional, community, lab, and field settings, you will devise and implement innovative solutions to protect global natural resources.
Develop the confidence to address some of the most significant environmental issues we face on a global scale by exploring the role science and society play in achieving global sustainability.
Fieldwork is a rewarding part of this course; you will get plenty of opportunities to apply your skills in beautiful outdoor and community settings.
Industry placements provide even more practical experience and the opportunity to work alongside experienced environmental scientists.
The course includes a compulsory professional practice unit that requires you to undertake at least 80 hours of work experience in a course-related host organisation.
Elective units may also provide additional opportunities for work-integrated learning experiences.

You will take the Placement Test before the start of your course.
If you're currently studying Year 12 or completed Year 12 in the last two years, you will need to meet all the following criteria to be considered for admission to this degree:
Year 12 prerequisite subjects
Complete foundation studies and/or a diploma program at Deakin College or one of Deakin's TAFE partners.
Australian Foundation Program: 65%
Note: Equivalent to an Australian Year 12 certificate.
The Deakin College Foundation Program is equivalent to upper secondary school (Year 12) and university foundation programs.
It aims to prepare you for further study in a Deakin College Diploma or entry into the first year of a selected Deakin University bachelor's degree.
The Diploma of Science is a direct pathway to the second year of Deakin bachelor degrees in Science, Biomedical Science, Environmental Science (majors in Management and Sustainability, Wildlife and Conservation Biology), Forensic Science, Zoology and Animal Science.
