La Trobe's Master of Information Technology allows you to ride the IT wave and set yourself up for a successful tech career.

This degree builds your technical expertise and gives you a strong, industry-standard IT skill set. 

However, it's also flexible – you'll have the opportunity to specialise in several booming areas, including software engineering, cloud analytics, digital media, networking, artificial intelligence, digital health or cybersecurity.

From day one, hands-on experience is the top priority. In addition, La Trobe's state-of-the-art on-campus CISCO labs offer a wide range of networking capabilities.

It's also home to the Centre for Technology Infusion and the La Trobe Cyber Security Research Hub.

An industry development project or work-based placement will cement your learning and prepare you to launch your career. 

Alternatively, if you have a research career in your sights, you can pursue an applied research project or an industry-based thesis.

Early exit points mean that every part of your degree contributes to your future career. So, if you choose, exit after six months with a Graduate Certificate in Information Technology Fundamentals.

Students need to select one of the following specialisations after their study commencing:

• Cloud analytics

• Academic/Official Transcripts
• Language Proficiency (If Applicable)
• Passport or Visa Documents
• Official translations of documents in a language other than English
• Award certificates
• A key/guide to the grading system/s
• Syllabus of previously-studied subjects if seeking advanced standing

Successful completion of an Australian bachelor's degree (or equivalent).

Selection criteria

Advanced Standing may be available for subjects completed equivalent to Australian Honours year level or the completion of La Trobe Graduate Diploma in Information Technology or Computer Science.

Pathways:

La Trobe University's Postgraduate Enabling Program (PEP) provides a pathway into a range of La Trobe Master's courses for students who may not have the academic and/or English requirements to gain direct entry.

PEP is a La Trobe University program, which La Trobe College Australia will deliver in Melbourne and Sydney. 

This program leads to all Master's courses offered at the Sydney Campus and some Master's courses in Melbourne and Bendigo.
