What is Electronic Systems Engineering?

Electronic Systems Engineering focuses on the integration of electronics, computers, and communication technologies in many different types of systems.

The Electronic Systems Engineering (ESE) program at the University of Regina focuses on a core program of analog and digital electronics with specialization streams in: instrumentation and control, telecommunications, micro-electronics, and power and energy. 

Software and computer-related courses are part of the electronics core program, allowing students to develop greater facility with both hardware and software.

Direct Entry into Advanced English for academic purposes   (EAP)

To be eligible to enter Advanced EAP directly, you have to do at least one of the following:

  • Submit proof of an overall IELTS (Academic) Band score of 6.0 with no IELTS Band score less than 5.0,
  • Submit proof of a TOEFL Paper score of 525 or a TOEFL iBT score of 70 with no skill below 17, or
  • Submit proof of a Duolingo score of 95 – 105, or
  • Submit proof of a CAEL score of 50.

These scores must also be submitted no later than the 100% Refund (minus tuition deposit) deadline.  If documents are submitted prior to the start of the semester, there is no requirement to write the in-house placement test.

Test results may not be more than 2 years old at the time of application to the ESL Program if they are to be considered for placement.

Direct Entry into 040 High Intermediate

If you have already taken an Academic IELTS test and achieved a minimum overall academic score of 5.5 (with no band lower than 5.0), you can enter directly into 040 High Intermediate.


Academic background and requirement

A graduating average of at least 70 per cent from a four-year baccalaureate degree (or equivalent) is required for admission.
