The Master of Social Work foundation program is intended for students without a BSW degree. You must have a 4-year undergraduate degree and at least 2 years of full-time human services experience.
The University accepts students every other September in odd-numbered years. The foundation core courses are delivered on campus in a full-time cohort model.

If you are unable to provide proof of language proficiency you may still be considered if you meet all other admission requirements. In this case, you’ll complete UVic’s University Admission Preparation (UAP) course.
Your prospective academic unit must be willing to admit you under this condition. You must complete the UAP with a grade of at least 80%.
UAP is a 12-week program offered in January, April and September. It is also offered in an intensive four-week format every summer.

The MSW Foundation program requires an undergraduate degree from a recognized degree-granting institution.
Applicants must have at least two years of full-time, or equivalent (approximately 3000 hours), paid or volunteer human services experience.
This can include work in areas such as health, education, housing, income security, economic development, social justice, justice and public safety, community development and/or policy/advocacy work.
Practicums, internships and co-ops are not eligible.
