Mechanical engineers design, analyse, manufacture, manage and maintain mechanical systems, including fluid and thermal systems.
Work areas include product design and manufacture, transport, agriculture, product and materials processing, renewable and non-renewable energy and power production, medicine, air-conditioning, the built environment, and many more.
The Mechanical Engineering major at UTS prepares students to enter this ever-changing and challenging profession by developing a good understanding of the knowledge, skills and practices that underpin the discipline.
Students take on real engineering challenges in design-focused studios throughout the program.
Students graduating with a Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) without a Diploma in Professional Engineering Practice must obtain the equivalent of at least 12 weeks of exposure to professional engineering practice, preferably outside the university environment.
