This combined degree at UTS is designed to provide opportunities for students interested in medical science, the scientific basis of engineering and technology, and the technology itself.
Civil engineers plan, design, construct and maintain structures and infrastructures above and below ground.
These include roads, bridges, tunnels, railways, dams, water and wastewater plants, and buildings.

Civil engineers use principles of calculus and trigonometry to analyse, design and troubleshoot.
Strong project management, communication, leadership, critical thinking and leadership skills are required.
In addition, students learn the critical skills in construction and surveying needed to become professional civil engineers.
The properties and use of concrete, steel, timber and soil, plus the physics and mechanics of large and small structures, are also studied.
Students also gain expertise in water supply systems, flood protection, sanitation, hydraulics and waste disposal.
Students are required to undertake a minimum of 12 weeks of engineering work experience.

UTS Science offers bridging courses in Maths, Chemistry, Physics, and Biology.
Bridging courses help prepare you for university studies and learning in the university environment.
Subjects taught in bridging courses do not carry any credit towards your degree but will help you prepare for first-year university subjects.
This may include students enrolling in science courses or other areas of study such as engineering, business, nursing, health, architecture, education, and information technology.
If you don't meet the admission requirements for this course, there may be alternative pathways to help you gain admission.
If you’re an international student looking for a university preparation program, UTS Foundation Studies is designed to help you take your next step into Australian university study.
Students who successfully complete the program will qualify for the first year of most undergraduate degrees at UTS or a UTS College diploma for those who need more preparation.
