This combined degree at UTS is designed to provide opportunities for students interested in science, the scientific basis of engineering and technology, and the technology itself.
Software engineers focus on large, complex, and critical software systems ubiquitously connected to our daily lives.
This major will teach you about software design, analysis, and management to ensure safe, reliable, secure, and maintainable systems. It goes beyond programming.
You will develop skills to identify issues with existing systems and create new possibilities with the application of software design.
Career opportunities in software engineering can be found in almost every large organisation across industry sectors, including:
Medical, transport, aviation, defence, telecommunications, banking and finance, and tertiary research and development.
You can combine this major with one of the following science majors after your study commencement:
Chemistry, Physics, Medical Science, Biotechnology, Environmental Science, Mathematics
Students are required to undertake a minimum of 12 weeks of engineering work experience.
A Diploma in Professional Engineering Practice is also available; it requires the additional completion of two six-month internships and the professional engineering practice program.
