Overview

Master of Teaching (Secondary)

If you're passionate about teaching and are keen to build a rewarding career in secondary school teaching, La Trobe's Master of Teaching (Secondary) is for you.

Through a combination of practical and evidence-based learning, you'll gain the confidence and knowledge to help shape the next generation's lives.

You'll develop up to two curriculum specialisations that you'll take straight into the classroom when you graduate.

Choose from science, languages, arts, psychology, and physical education.

Or delve deeper into your area of interest with a specialisation in drama, mathematics, physical education, business management, commerce and business, science and visual arts.

With extensive real-world teaching experience, you'll learn how to manage classrooms, design class plans, guide students, and create a safe and engaging learning space for your students.

La Trobe focuses on practice-based learning, and the students learn about creating relationships from day one.

Understand how to connect with every student individually and develop meaningful relationships with students, parents and the wider school community.

You'll learn the latest evidence-based teaching techniques throughout your studies and explore innovative pedagogies and learning sciences.

You'll learn the following:

  • Discipline expertise
  • Classroom management
  • Inclusion and diversity
  • Indigenous perspectives
  • Digital learning
