Overview

Master of Science in Computer Science - Work term

Option 1 - Thesis Route

Option 2 - Course/Project Route with Work Term

Students from either option 1 or option 2 may request to transfer between both options once during their studies. The transfer requires an approval from the Department Head.

Master program applicants must identify the correct option (thesis or work-term) on their application. Thesis-based applicants are required to submit two or more letters of reference from an academic supervisor, such as a thesis-supervisor or a university professor who has taught the student. The work-term route is more suitable for applicants with relevant work experience in the IT sector. For this reason, work-term route applicants are strongly encouraged to include their Curriculum Vitae (CV) and one reference letter from a former employer in their application.

When filling your application online, in the section Statement of Interest, part e) Indicate your sub-specialty area, you must select one of the areas. You can opt for a maximum of 3 areas. Supervisors may choose students based on their research preferences.

Admission to the M.Sc. (work-term route) program is granted for the Fall (starting in September) or Winter (starting in January) terms only . The review of applications begins after the submission deadline. Complete applications (including transcripts, reference letters, etc.) should reach the School of Graduate Studies before the 15th. of January (Fall intake) or the 15th. of May (Winter intake) to guarantee consideration.
