The Bachelor of Science (Agriculture) in Agronomy is a four-year program focusing on the study of crop production, soil management and water resources.

The Agronomy program will provide an integrated and comprehensive study of the factors and processes associated with the science of crop production and the management and use of land and water resources. 

The program emphasizes land management and the sustainability of agronomic and horticultural crop systems.

Language pathway (conditional offer) is available

The English Language Centre (ELC) at the University of Manitoba (UM) offers the full-time Intensive Academic English Program (IAEP). 

If the student does not meet the English Language Proficiency requirement for their program of interest, the student can take advantage of this program to obtain the Academic English language skills needed to complete a degree.

If you have already achieved one of these minimum test scores, you may be eligible to enter Level 5 of the IAEP directly:

  • 5.5 (Academic) or higher in the International English Language Testing System (IELTS).
  • 5.5 (Academic) or higher in the International English Language Testing System Indicator (IELTS Indicator) for Spring/Summer and Fall 2021 applications
  • Minimum 16 in each component and 70 overall on the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL)
  • 3.5 Listening, 3.5 Reading and 3.5 Writing in the Canadian Test of English for Scholars and Trainees (CanTEST)*
  • 50 or higher in the Canadian Academic English Language Assessment (CAEL)
  • Duolingo English Test (95 and above) for Spring/Summer and Fall 2021 applications

Academic background and requirement

An equivalent minimum average of 85% over the following senior level courses, with no less than 70% in each course: • English • Pre-Calculus Mathematics • A third academic course • A fourth academic course
