Intensive Academic English Program (IAEP):

Foundations Level

This course focuses on foundational English skills in oral communication, vocabulary acquisition and grammar development. This course emphasizes basic English language skills necessary for daily life settings

Levels 1 to 4 

Levels 1-4 of the IAEP are designed to prepare intermediate and advanced level students for academic study. The program emphasizes the English language skills necessary for university success.

Placement Test (foundations level and levels 1-4)

All students who have not been admitted directly into Level 5 will take a placement test.

Students will be required to take the Duolingo English Test (DET). This test will determine which level students are placed in.


Academic background and requirement

General entrance requirement: 

High school diploma with 5 full credits at the senior level. 

Note: In cases where the number of eligible applicants exceeds the available spaces, applicants will require higher averages than stipulated to be successful in the admissions competition.

A minimum average of 85% over the following, with no less than 70% in each course: 

• English 40S • Pre-Calculus Mathematics 40S • Two academic 40S courses*

GPA:

China: Upper Middle School Graduation Certificate (中國語文)

High school diploma with 5 full credits at the senior level. 

An equivalent minimum average of 85% over the following senior-level courses, with no less than 70% in each course: 

• English • Pre-Calculus Mathematics • A third academic course • A fourth academic course

 

India: Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) / Intermediate Certificate / All India Senior School Certificate

General entrance requirement: General Certificate of Education (GCE) with a minimum of two courses at the Advanced (A) level, and three courses at the GCSE/IGCSE/Ordinary (O) level. 

An equivalent minimum average of B (85%) over the following courses (at least two courses at the A level), with no less than C (70%) in each course: 

• English • Mathematics • A third academic course • A fourth academic course
